The Greatest Choice

Throughout life, we face decisions or choices that shape our paths. Sometimes, we make the correct choices, but at other times we make mistakes.

Some choices are easy, like selecting the colour of a dress for an occasion or deciding what to have for lunch.

However, other decisions are much more significant, like choosing who to get married to or the career to pursue in life. These can define the course of your life.

The place you find yourself today may be a direct consequence of the decisions you’ve made or neglected to make when opportunities presented themselves to you.

While your reputation or socioeconomic status may hold some significance in the present moment, the true importance of life is not limited to temporal matters. Life’s true worth lies in the eternal.

Eternal Life and Eternal Death

There are two dimensions to the eternal: eternal life and eternal death. Both have implications for our eternal destinies.

Eternal life is the essence of God. God embodies life, and life is His essence. In the Garden of Eden, before the Fall, man experienced the life of God.

Death results from life being taken or lost. When man fell, he became disconnected from God, the source of life. Death became man’s new nature and spiritual death, his destiny.

Sin is the reason for death, as indicated in Romans 6:23. The Fall was the genesis of man’s demise.

Due to our human nature (of sin), we have all sinned. Therefore, we are not sinners because we commit evil acts; rather we commit evil acts because we are sinners.

Sin lies at the core of human nature. We are all separated from God on account of our sinful nature.

Even if someone embodies virtuous and ethical qualities, they are still considered a sinner without the presence of Christ. As the Bible says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23, NKJV).

We -every one of us- have strayed away like sheep! We who left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet God laid on him (Jesus) the guilt and sins of every one of us! -Isaiah 53:6, TLB.

God’s Love for You

God saw the eternal implication of man’s sin. So motivated by His love for us, He sent His Son Jesus into the world.

Even though the wages of sin is death, God presents the gift of eternal life (Romans 3:23). Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came into the world to save us from sin and death.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world, through Him, might be saved –John 3:16-17.

Jesus Christ is “the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the whole world” (John 1:29). He shed His blood to cleanse us from all sin.

By shedding His blood for us on the Cross, Jesus Christ paid the ransom for sin. He satisfied the demands of divine justice and its eternal implications. It is His blood that atones for sin. The righteous demands of a just God were met on the Cross when Jesus took our sins upon Himself.

For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures -1 Corinthians 15:3-4, NKJV.

Jesus Christ was crucified for our sins out of love. Afterwards, He was buried, and on the third day, He rose from the dead to reconcile us with God. This is the Good News – Jesus is alive, and He gives us life. As Apostle Paul said, “Since we have been united with Him in His death, we will also be raised to life as He was (Romans 6:5, NLT).”

A Time to Choose

Life and death are before us, but we are encouraged to choose life.

This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live -Deuteronomy 30:19, NIV.

Taking responsibility for your life is crucial. Accept responsibility and take the first step by believing in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

If you have faith in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, you will be saved.

Once you receive the gift of eternal life and repent of your sins, God will relate with you as if you have never sinned. This is called justification.

Through faith in Christ Jesus, you will be born into God’s family and become His child. He will bring you into a relationship where He places you in the right standing with Himself, making you His righteousness and treating you as a saint, not a sinner- He will justify you.

Repent and believe in the Lord Jesus today, and you shall be saved. He will give you eternal life, and as you walk with Him, He will transform your life.

Make a Choice Today

Today, you have the chance to make the most important decision of your life by receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Doing so, you will be forgiven of your sins and given eternal life.

Remember that salvation is a gift that is obtained through faith and trust in God, rather than through good works.

For by grace, you have been saved by faith. Nothing you did could ever earn this salvation, for it was the love gift from God that brought us to Christ! So no one will ever be able to boast, for salvation is never a reward for good works or human striving -Ephesians 2:8-9, TPT.

How can you receive God’s gift of salvation that brings eternal life? The Bible says,

The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved -Romans 10:8-11, 13, NKJV.
